FREDRIKSTAD, NORWAY/JERUSALEM, 1 February 2012 - This past weekend Bishop Dr. Munib A. Younan “joyfully participated” at the consecration of Rev. Atle Sommerfeldt as bishop of the Diocese of Borg in the Church of Norway.
Younan was present for the consecration both in his role as bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL) and as president of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF).

A Christian-Muslim consultation on the Christian presence and witness in the Middle East took place at the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia in Antelias, Lebanon, from 24-28 January 2012.
The consultation dealt with issues and challenges facing the Christian communities at this critical juncture in the history of the Arab World. It also explored the effective ways and means of deepening Christian-Muslim coexistence and collaboration as partners in building democratic societies.

Some time ago ATS pro Terra Sancta launched a new project to support the small Christian community in Jericho, which is centered around the Good Shepherd Parish. For three months, Rosalie – a volunteer working with ATS pro Terra Sancta – has been in Jericho helping out with the needs of the community through the project “Jericho, aid to Christians in need“.

JERUSALEM, 24 January 2012 – Services for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity began in Jerusalem this weekend with an invitation to join with the Greek Orthodox Church for the Office of “Apodeipnon” (Compline) at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Saturday evening.
The local Christian community joined again together on Sunday evening for a service at the Cathedral Church of St. George the Martyr, presided over by the Rt. Rev’d Suheil S. Dawani, the Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem.

The feast commemorating the baptism of Jesus took place on Sunday 8 January on the banks of the Jordan River. Now that the site has at last been reopened, the Custody of the Holy Land is again able to celebrate in the place of the liturgical feast.
