The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation*

    News Release

The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) is pleased to announce that it will sponsor a conference on the Christians of the Holy Land for Clergy of all Christian denominations.

The conference will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2003 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20016.

The conference is intended to inform Christian clergy about the plight of Holy Land Christians.  In addition, HCEF wishes to encourage clergy and their congregations to join the Holy Land Christina Ecumenical Foundation to support Holy Land Christians and the Mother Church of Jerusalem as it struggles to survive in the land of its birth.  The clergy and their congregations will be encouraged to support ongoing projects by recruiting volunteers for the Out Reach Program, Speakers Bureau, Child Sponsorship Program, Holy Land Gifts Program, Pilgrimage Program, and Emergency Relief.  HCEF President Rateb Rabie, KHS, noted, "We are reaching out to the Christian Clergy because we found that many clergy are not aware of the risk that Christianity might be extinguished in the land of its birth."

Rev. Dr. Frank Trotter, Senior Minister of the Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church in Washington, DC, is the Chair of the Planning Committee and will be the Chairperson for the conference.    For more information please call Luma Haj at 301-951-9400.
