    HCEF Endorsed by Metropolitan Christian Council of Detroit and Windsor

    The Metropolitan Christian Council: Detroit-Windsor, in existence since 1919, works with over 2400 Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox churches in the Detroit-Windsor area.  The council has been in the forefront of many issues concerning peace, justice and civil rights. 

    In appreciation of the work done by the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation regarding justice and security for the Christians in the Holy Land, the Council designated HCEF as a "Partner in Mission."  The Council committed itself to assisting HCEF in its work in the future.  

    HCEF recently held, in conjunction with the Detroit HCSN Committee, a symposium over a three-day period on the Christians in the Holy Land.  On the first day, Christian leaders of Archdiocese of Detroit Christian were oriented to the needs of Holy Land Christians and programs designed to provide assistance.  On the second day, an ecumenical meeting was held, organized by the Metropolitan Christian Council, that provided each of the denomination representatives present an outline of the programs developed by HCEF to assist Christens in the Holy Land.  On the third day, Christian Arab American leaders met to discuss ways that their churches could organize their efforts to assist the Christians in the Holy Land.

    "HCEF is honored to receive this endorsement.  Council Executive Director Rev. Richard Singleton has lead Detroit's Christian leaders' efforts to bring Peace and Justice to the Holy Land" Sir Rateb Rabie, HCEF president said.We are encouraged to redouble our efforts to reach all Christian leaders to help them understand the urgent needs of the Holy Land's Christian Community.
