8^th International HCEF Conference to Present
Groundbreaking Panel Discussion Saturday, October 21, 2006

The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) will hold an panel discussion on the theology and practical implications of Christian Zionism during its 8^th International Conference, Opening Doors of Hope in Faith, which will be held in Washington D.C., October 20^th and 21^st, 2006. The discussion is titled, Are Christians Obligated to Support Israel? Two Different Theological Perspectives.

This conversation between two evangelical Christians will explore the positions of both groups by addressing the differences in their theological and political views. They will also touch upon the realities of Christian Zionist theology as it influences events in the Holy Land.

Rev. Gary Burge, Ph.D., professor at Wheaton College and member of HCEFs Advisory Board will represent the theological views of non-Zionist evangelical Christians. Ms. JoAnn Magnuson will represent the Christian Zionist theological perspective. Ms. Mugnuson has been involved with Bible-based study and tourism in Israel for many years, and currently serves as Director of Interfaith Relations for Bridges for Peace (BFP).

In light of recent political events and the place of the U.S. churches in the formation of public opinion, this panel discussion has far-reaching implications. Panel Moderator will be Serge Duss, who is the Senior Advisor for Global Affairs of World Vision US, and an Ordained Elder at National Presbyterian Church. This panel discussion will be held on Saturday, October 21^st from 8:50 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. at the National Presbyterian Center in Washington, D.C.
