• HCEF Presents its 6th International Conference: Holy Land Christians Rooted in Bonds of Peace; Main Conference Schedule of All Events

"Western Christians will be given a unique opportunity to hear the heads of the Jerusalem churches speak out on behalf of the 'living stones' of the Holy Land," says Rateb Rabie, HCEF President. His Beatitude Michel Sabbah, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem; The Right Reverend Riah Abu El-Assal, Bishop of The Episcopal Church in Jerusalem; His Grace Right Reverend Munib Younan, Bishop of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jerusalem; and Archimandrite Innokentios Exarchos, the personal representative of the His Beatitude Irineos I, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, will speak about the living Christians of the Holy Land and their hopes for increased solidarity with the living Body of Christ throughout the world.

• Theodore Cardinal McCarrick to Address HCEF 6th Annual Awards Banquet

Theodore Cardinal McCarrick will be the keynote speaker at the 2004 HCEF Awards Banquet on Friday, October 22, 2004. The banquet will be held at the Holiday Inn Select Bethesda, Bethesda, MD. Each year, at the time of the 6th International Conference, HCEF grants awards to people and institutions who have accomplished excellent work in support of the Christians of the Holy Land. • Palestinian Christian Students on a Mission for Peace Sharing Their Plight with American Christians

WASHINGTON DC- Six Palestinian Christian students and their teacher have recently arrived in the United States as a part of the Children's Peace Project sponsored by the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation. The students are currently in Ohio for one month where they are living with host families and attending a Catholic school. After their visit in Ohio, they will come to Washington DC to participate in the two-day HCEF Youth Summit on Sunday, October 17 and Saturday, October 23. The students will also speak at local public and private schools in the DC area for their month long visit.

• Jerusalem Faith Leaders to Address Arab American Christians

WASHINGTON DC- Leaders of the four major Christian Churches in Jerusalem will join The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation for a press briefing on Friday, October 22, to launch a weekend-long conference, "Holy Land Christians Rooted in Bonds of Peace," addressing the progress and challenges facing the Holy Land's Christian population.

• Ambassador Gnehm to Speak at 6th International Conference

WASHINGTON DC- Former Ambassador Edward Gnehm, Shapiro visiting Professor of International Affairs, Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, will speak at the conference on how the Christian roots extend into the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the importance of bringing an awareness about Holy Land Christians to lay and religious leaders in the West.

• HCEF Delegation Lays Groundwork to Continue its Support for Holy Land Christians through an HCEF Presence in the UK

Dr. Harry Hagopian, HCEF Outreach Coordinator in the UK, hosted Rateb Rabie, HCEF President, and Julie James, HCEF Outreach Coordinator, for a series of meetings in London. The HCEF delegation held its initial meeting with The Revd Canon Jonathan Gough, Archbishop of Canterbury's Secretary for Ecumenism, at Lambeth Palace.
